City of Bedford Stoney Creek Dam

City of Bedford Stoney Creek Dam

Town of Bedford Stoney Creek Dam

T&L was retained by the Town of Bedford (formerly City of Bedford) to investigate and make recommendations regarding spillway and other repairs to the Stoney Creek Dam. Following the development of a Flood Inundation Study, Preliminary Engineering Report, and Geotechnical Analysis, it was determined that certain improvements to the Dam were required.

These improvements included:

  • Repairs on the existing Dam spillway; and
  • Construction of an auxiliary spillway to increase capacity

These improvements were addressed by the design and construction of several improvements which involved:

  • Structural repairs to the concrete chute spillway;
  • Structural concrete chute walls to contain spillway flows; and
  • A roller compacted concrete auxiliary spillway to bring the total spillway capacity up to the probable maximum flood flow requirements.
