Town of Wise East Main Street Improvements

The Town of Wise, Virginia procured the services of T&L for the engineering design and construction of the East Main Street Pedestrian Improvements from Railroad Avenue to Spring Avenue.

T&L provided the preparation of complete construction plans and specifications for the East Main Street Pedestrian Improvements and Streetscape project to include:

Street and sidewalk width adjustments;
Storm drainage improvements;
Roadway pavement milling, surfacing and striping;
Underground electrical for new street lighting;
Improved sidewalks with curb and gutter, crosswalks, site furnishings such as benches, planters and trash receptacles, planting and new traffic signage.

These implemented improvements are aligned with the objectives set forth in the Downtown Revitalization Plan for Wise completed in 2008.The revitalization includes new sidewalk construction, new ornamental street lamps with underground electrical, new pedestrian benches, new ornamental trash cans and ornamental planters to complement the existing downtown revitalization projects.

Town of Abingdon Waldon Road

T&L was selected by the Town of Abingdon, Virginia to provide professional engineering design services for the Walden Road Pedestrian Improvements project.

The project involved:

Upgrades to the existing Walden Road Pedestrian Walkway to enhance pedestrian access and improve safety;
Design and construction of sidewalk, curb and gutter, storm drainage, and associated items along the north side of Valley Street and on the north side of Walden Road from Valley Street.

The scope of services consisted of:

Field visits, data collection and survey needed for design, establishment of survey control, rights-of-way acquisition and easements;
Identification of all public and private utilities affected;
Erosion & sedimentation control plan and narrative for the project, including analysis of the need for stormwater management.
Design development of improvements included design plans, specifications, cost estimates and construction administration for the completion of the improvements.
