Longwood University – Chichester Roof Replacement

The Chichester Science Center serves Longwood University as the primary facility for education in the sciences. The building is prominently located, fronting High Street and serving as the corner of Wheeler Lawn Quad. LU engaged T&L to provide architectural, structural and mechanical engineering services for the replacement of the building roofing system.

The project consisted of:

• A complete tear-off of the existing two-ply system
• Installation of 16,250 square feet of 90-mil EPDM roofing system with rigid insulation, sloped to drain
• Installation of a lightning protection system.

The project required numerous roofing details and coordination due to the number of roof top units, a greenhouse, and a perimeter mansard roof.
