Restoration of the Town of Pocahontas’ exhibition mine, museum, and tram stop, the latter of which would include kitchen refurbishment for the addition of an eatery on-site. Reclamation of the adjacent abandoned mine land for the use of commercial development is a secondary goal, although likely necessary over the long-term, as the Town of Pocahontas has already seen an increase in tourist traffic and demand for new commercial entities such as convenience stores and restaurants. Directly neighboring the proposed commercial development site is a private plot of abandoned mine land that is being examined by a private entity as a potential campground and recreational vehicle park, which would further increase demand for businesses in the immediate area.
