Thompson & Litton Acquires Stafford Consultants

Thompson & Litton Acquires Stafford Consultants

Thompson & Litton (T&L) announces the acquisition of Stafford Consultants, Inc. The combination of T&L and Stafford brings together two well-respected civil engineering firms, who have both been serving clients throughout Virginia and West Virginia for decades.

On February 1, 2019, Stafford Consultants joined Thompson & Litton’s employee-owned operation. The West Virginia branch office will remain in Princeton, West Virginia.

“The combined experience and skills of the two firms will allow Thompson & Litton to continue our long record of success,” says T&L President Greg Hurst. “With the addition of Stafford Consultants, an established engineering firm with a long history and solid reputation of client service, integrity, and successful projects, we can offer more value and convenience to our clients throughout West Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic region.”

Founded in 1956, T&L serves its five-state Mid-Atlantic client base from offices in Tazewell, Wise, Radford, and Chilhowie, Virginia; and Bristol, Mosheim, and Johnson City, TN. Since its earliest days, T&L has emphasized serving its clients by producing quality work by committed people. This principle is stronger than ever.

Stafford Consultant’s staff joined T&L’s existing professional and full-service staff of engineers, architects, surveyors, land-use planners, construction administrators, grant/financing specialists, and other support personnel.

Stafford Consultants Inc., was founded in 1985 and is a full-service engineering firm providing services in civil, sanitary, structural, highway, bridge, airport, stormwater, and environmental engineering. The acquisition allows the firm to continue to serve Towns, Cities, Counties, Public Service Districts and private clients, throughout West Virginia with increased capacity, and expands its service offerings to include architectural, broadband, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services.

Ed Shutt, President of Stafford Consultants, has been named Senior Project Manager and West Virginia Branch Manager.

He states, “Thompson & Litton and Stafford Consultants share a common set of goals, values, and culture of quality service to our clients and caring for our clients and employees.  Combining the two firms will diversify our service offerings, expand our geographical reach, and enhance our client service.  We are excited to be on the Thompson & Litton team, and for the potential job growth in Mercer County.”
