Southside Virginia Community College Student and Learning Resource Center John H. Daniel Campus
The Southside Virginia Community College John H. Daniel Campus, located in Keysville, Virginia is one of two SVCC Campuses. The John H. Daniel Campus works in concert with the Alberta Campus, located approximately 25 miles to the southeast, sharing many of their facilities including library resources, staff, and curriculum. It is envisioned that the new LRC/Student Center will become a prototype facility for the Alberta Campus sometime in the near future.
The building program consists of an approximate 37,500 SF two-story facility which houses a new Learning Resource Center (LRC) and Student Services Center. Due to the hours of operation, frequency and volume of use, and security concerns, the Student Services Center was placed on the ground floor. Components include: multipurpose reception hall, offices for admissions, counseling, financial aid, business office, student information, student club rooms, athletic office, game area, kitchen, dining, vending, student lounge, reception, coffee bar, and associated storage.
The upper floor houses the LRC components including library book stacks, reading areas, offices, information desk, Information Technology and A/V offices and work rooms, library instruction classroom, work study conference rooms, small group learning and study rooms, outdoor reading areas, and staff rooms.
